Allerdale sampling procedure

The policy

Allerdale Borough Council will participate in the following food sampling activities with the emphasis on sampling locally produced high risk foods:-

• Food contamination and food poisoning incidents;
• Food sampling for on-farm pasteurised milk;
• Shellfish classification;
• Complaints;
• Participation in the LACOTS/PHLS voluntary co-ordinated sampling programme;
• Cumbria Food Liaison Group co-ordinated programme;
• Participation in EU co-ordinated control programmes.
• Food samples shall be procured and handled in accordance with Code of Practice No 7 and any subsequent amendments.
• Food samples will only be taken by officers authorised to carry out such work under the Food Safety Act 1990.
