Port Health
Allerdale Borough Council's Environmental Health Unit is
responsible for the provision of various functions under the Public
Health Acts and other legislation for the ports of Workington and
Silloth. Ships visiting these ports are inspected for pests and re
issued a rat exemption and de-ratting certificates. This service
also monitors ship's water supplies and food hygiene standards.
