Grounds maintenance and grass cutting
ISS Facility Services
Landscaping (external link) has been working in partnership
with Allerdale Borough Council since 2003 as part of Allerdale’s
Environmental Partnership and is currently the grounds
maintenance team for Allerdale Borough Council. They are
responsible for the following areas of maintenance on land that is
owned by Allerdale Borough Council:
- grass cutting and strimming
- maintenance of trees, shrubs, hedges, roses and flower
beds
- weed control (except highways maintained by Cumbria County
Council)
- litter collection and removal of dog faeces on selected
sites
- planting of trees, shrubs, bulbs and other plants
- seeding and marking out of sports pitches

- protection of nature conservation sites and reserves.
ISS Facility Services also provide grass cutting and hedge
maintenance for Home Housing through the Council and cut grass
on selected amenity sites that are not owned by Allerdale
Borough Council. Please note on these sites the land owners are
responsible for the trees,
although the council will carry out necessary works for trees on
these sites that are dead, dying, dangerous or blocking access
along a public footpath.
Others green spaces are the responsibility of housing
associations or other bodies.
Roadside verges (external link) are cut by Cumbria County
Council.
