What do I do if I find a syringe/ hypodermic needle?

If you find a syringe in a public place don’t touch it, instead if you can cover it with a brick or a pot please do so. Please use the 'Report a syringe' link below and we will arrange for the needle to be collected as a matter of urgency.

What should I do if I find another type of clinical waste?

Other types of clinical waste may include:

  • Human or animal body parts.
  • Human or animal bloods or other body fluids.
  • Excretion.
  • Drugs or other pharmaceutical products.
  • Any waste arising from: medical, nursing, dental, blood transfusion, veterinary, pharmaceutical or similar practice, investigation, treatment, care, teaching or research and which may cause infection.

If you find this kind of waste, please contact your district nurse who will be able to advise upon safe disposal.
