Pathways to Art
Pathways to Art is a project aimed at people
on a working age benefit who are interested in taking part in
creative workshops. Pathways to Art has worked with over 100 adults
in West Cumbria on projects such as photography, theatre and
creative writing, low-relief wood carving, crafts such as
felt-making and pyrography.
Pathways to Art workshops run on a regular
basis in response to community demand. Typically the workshops are
held in community spaces and are attended by groups of six to
twenty individuals. The workshops are run in blocks of ten sessions
and are free of charge.
If you are interested in the project contact
your local Job Centre or the arts development services of Allerdale
and Copeland Borough Council to book a place. It is not essential
that participants attend every session within the block of ten. You
can come by yourself or bring a friend or relative.

Mandy, a playmaking participant, which features in the Summer
08 edition of Allerdale Outlook magazine.
