Allerdale to be part of a new initiative for the tournament.
The representative will also be rewarded with
a pair of VIP seats at the final of Rugby League World Cup 2013 and
tickets to all the games played at the nearest ground.
The Fans Local Advisory Group (FLAG) has been
created to give fans a voice in the planning for Rugby League World
Cup 2013 and will include representatives from all the communities
involved in games. FLAG will meet regularly with tournament
organisers to share and discuss their views and will be encouraged
to maintain a regular dialogue through social media.
To become the Allerdale fan, Allerdale Borough

their area in the national RLWC fans local advisory group and help
promote the event in West Cumbria.
The competition will be judged by Allerdale Borough Council’s
Sports Development Officer, Times and Star Chief Sports Reporter
John Fuller and a representative from Cumbria Rugby Football
League.
Councillor Mark Fryer, Executive member with
responsibility for sports development, said: “This is a fantastic
opportunity for one lucky fan from Allerdale to play a unique role
in creating the best Rugby League World Cup ever.”
The deadline to be in with a chance of
becoming Allerdale's Fan representative is Monday 2nd

Rugby League in Allerdale!
Rugby League in the Allerdale and Cumbria as a whole
now has a full compliment of staff, so will be driving
forward all the initiatives and development programmes in the
borough.
Presently there are 10 amateur Clubs in the District
(Broughton Red Rose, Ellenborough Rangers, Flimby, Glasson Rangers,
Great Clifton, Maryport, Salterbeck Storm, Seaton Rangers, West
Cumbria U18's and newly formed Aspatria Hornets) and 1
professional club, Workington Town. Most of these are running
junior and youth teams at various age groups, from under 8's
through to under 18's.
Over the coming months there will be a number of RFL lead
initiatives which will help to strengthen rugby league within
Allerdale. This will be done by increasing and educating coaches,
training volunteers, and through making more resources available
for grassroots activity. All these combined along with the
strong service area pathways, should have a positive
effect on the number of young people participating in the sport of
rugby league. The increase in participation numbers should allow
more retention within the clubs and over a period of time should
filter through the age groups and into the open age structures,
which can only be good for rugby league in Allerdale.
Rugby League initiatives include:
Workington Town have a
comprehensive community programme. They are currently
delivering core skills through small sided games, within Schools
which accumulates in a festival held at Derwent
Park.
Glasson rangers and Seaton Rugby League clubs have recently been
given funding through the Flood recovery and resiliance programme
to help get their clubs back on their feet and out into the
community after the floods in 2009.
Is a charter standard which provides the clubs
with a 'kitemark' ensuring the parents / carers of children that
the clubs are a Safe, Friendly, and Child Effective
environment.
