Allerdale Leisure Facilities

Allerdale Leisure consists of Allerdale's three leisure facilities which are managed by Carlisle Leisure Ltd under a 15 year partnership agreement with the Council which commenced on the 1st of April 2004. 

• Cockermouth Leisure Centre (includes pool & activity timetables)
• Keswick Leisure Pool (includes pool & activity timetables)
• Workington Leisure Centre & Pools (includes pool & activity timetables)

Carlisle Leisure Limited
Carlisle Leisure Ltd is a non profit distributing organisation with charitable 'Trust' status which also operates a number of facilities in Carlisle which include the Sands Centre, 'The Pools', Stoneyholme golf course and Sheepmount athletics stadium. Under the terms of the agreement with the Council, Carlisle Leisure Ltd is responsible for the management, operation and development of the leisure facilities.

This includes the planning and implementation of schemes & improvements which will develop the facilities and  increase the range of activities on offer to the local community. One immediate benefit from the new arrangement is the introduction of new membership initiatives which will allow customers to use not only the three facilities in Allerdale but also those in Carlisle.

Successes and achievements

Since the start of the partnership agreement between Allerdale Borough Council and Carlisle Leisure Limited on 1 April 2004, a number of successes and achievements have been realised for the benefit of the users of the leisure facilities.

• A 24% increase in usage of the leisure facilities
• £1million invested through business rates savings (NNDR), including the major scheme at Cockermouth Leisure Centre
• £1million invested by Carlisle Leisure Limited, including initiatives to reduce energy consumption
• High levels of customer satisfaction recorded by the National Benchmarking Survey
• Continual improvement recorded by external audits through the QUEST scheme
• Reduction of subsidy (management fee) cost to the Council

Allerdale Borough Council also works in partnership with Netherhall Community Sports Centre and Wigton Baths.
