Netherhall Community Sports Centre
Netherhall Community Sports Centre is part of
Netherhall School Specialist Sports College. The facilities within
the centre serve both the school itself and the whole of the local
community and surrounding district. We believe that the more
support and advice we can give to people to achieve their goals the
happier and healthier our community is.
NCSC aims to provide first class facilities
accompanied by a warm and friendly welcome. There is a broad range
of amenities available, with the extensive programme of activities
serving both commercial and community usage alongside an extensive
schools' service. Friendly and knowledgeable staff will welcome you
at Netherhall Community Sports Centre’s fantastic range of sports
and leisure facilities.
The team consists of Sport Centre supervisors
who are all trained to life guard, gym instruct and support the
whole management of the centre. A Sports Development Team has now
been set up to provide, organise and manage the delivery of sport
and activities and develop the profile of a healthy lifestyle
through sport for all ages.

Free Swimming
Free Swimming will now be available
for those aged 16 and under or over 60 from Monday 1 March 2010.
Normal pool rules apply and proof of aged may be requested before
entry to the pool.
A timetable will be posted shortly,
showing when Free Swimming is available.
Free Swims will be funded for an
initial 12 months and may be repeated in 2011 subject to available
funds.
Facilities
The Fitness
Suite
The ultra-modern fitness suite is fully air
conditioned and kitted out with the very latest in cardiovascular
and resistance training equipment. The design allows for very safe
and simple operation by all users whether experienced or just
starting out on the road to fitness. Equipment is spaced to prevent
a feeling of claustrophobia and crowding. Staff are on hand
to offer inductions and advice on training routines and how to
achieve a healthier lifestyle. Specific classes are run to
encourage those who may lack the confidence or support to get going
on their own.
One-to-ones: Our qualified
staff are available to personally train people towards their
individual health and fitness goals. These sessions are
specifically designed to motivate and support the public who want
one-to-one sessions
Fitness classes
Ryan’s Power Hour: An intensive mixed
gender class guaranteed to increase personal fitness levels and
burn calories. This advanced class includes a mixture of cardio,
circuit & core stability exercises. Monday
Evenings 4pm-5pm.
Cardio Tone: This mixed
gender class provides a varied combination of exercises aiming to
increase general fitness as well as focusing on achieving improved
muscular toning. This class caters for anyone! Monday
Evenings 6pm – 7pm.
Circuits: A great fun and
high energy class, which can be enjoyed by all. Using mainly
body weight exercises it allows people to work at their own level
and pace. Wednesday Evenings 6pm-7pm.
Ladies Circuits: If you want
to lose weight, tone up and feel great, then this is the class for
you! With a mixture of cardiovascular, light toning and abdominal
workouts, you will be looking and feeling great in no time!
Thursday Evenings 6pm-7pm.
Spinning: Spinning is a
fantastic way to get fit with the added benefit of being
non-impact! Spinning classes are provided for all levels of
ability. These classes are designed to increase your fitness and
pump it up to the next level; they are highly motivating and
extremely popular. Booking is essential! Monday Mornings
9:30am -10:30am, Tuesdays Evenings 5:15pm – 6pm, Tuesday Evenings
6:15pm - 7pm, Thursday Evenings advanced class 5:15pm – 6pm,
Thursday Evening’s 7:15pm – 8p, Friday evening beginners 5-30pm –
6-15pm .
The Swimming Pool
The Ellenside Pool has been recently refurbished and now
provides an ideal small community Pool. Lessons for all levels -
beginner to advanced - and for all ages - from 4 to 104 - can be
provided. There is a wide variety of sessions catering for all
sections of the community from family fun sessions to adults only
sessions.
Aquacise: A class designed to firm the total
body with water resistance exercises to popular music. This class
is available to all abilities and is low impact, excellent for
mobility, conditioning and rehabilitation for injured muscles and
joints.
Monday: 7pm - 8pm, Tuesday 10.30am - 11.30am, Thursday
2.45pm - 3.45pm.
Children's activities
Children’s Parties: There
is a choice of parties to suit your child. We have ‘pool parties’
with use of the swimming pool or ‘activity parties’ in the sports
hall where themes can be chosen (football, multi sports and games)
to make your child’s birthday a day to remember! Staff are
available for hire to help plan and manage party games and
activities.
Introduction to Football: A
football experience for children aged 4-7 years old of all
abilities and gender. This programme consists of a fundamental
football course that runs in 6 week blocks. During this time they
will learn the basic skills of football, working on agility,
balance and coordination to help start your child physical
development at an early age.
Gymnastics: A weekly session
to develop the physical attributes of children. Gymnastics is an
activity
involving performance of exercises requiring physical strength,
flexibility, agility, co-ordination, balance, and grace. Classes
are available for children aged 4 years and older.
HolidayCamps: These action packed
days that run throughout every school holiday will prevent your
child from having those ‘nothing to do’ days! We run two different
camps one for 4-7 year olds which runs from 10am – 2pm and one for
8-12 year olds which runs from 10am – 3pm. They consist of a vast
array of sporting activities and games with the emphasis on FUN!
Camps usually run for more than one day so please ring for further
information or to secure your child’s place.
Tennis Courts
The all weather, floodlit tennis courts are available all year
round, and are run in partnership with Maryport Tennis Club. You
can access these courts by booking via the Sports Centre.
Grass Pitches
When weather conditions allow, there are a selection of pitches
for rugby, football, hockey and also markings for
athletics, and these can be hired to local clubs for
training and competition. Changing rooms are available on
request.
The Sports Hall
The Brand new sports hall is a 'single court' ( 4 badminton
Court ) multi use facility that can cater for a wide range of
indoor sports. It provides a modern and well
equipped facility that is bright and spacious and able to stage
regional level events. The hall is available for club hire and for
the staging of major events and competitions.
The Astroturf Pitch
This is a full size, floodlit, 3rd generation synthetic
pitch and is the only one in our area. It allows both football and
rugby to be comfortably played to a very high standard. A
comprehensive programme of club, community and school usage is
carefully balanced to cater for all sections of the community. This
facility can be hired out as a full pitch or can be divided into
thirds. Bookings can be taken for evenings and weekends for
training or co,petition.
NCSC Super Soccer Sixes: We host and organise a weekly 6-aside
football league on Monday evenings for adults 16 plus. Any new team
can register to join the league vie ant Sports Centre. Trophies and
cash prizes are on offer.

- Individual Senior: Reduced
rates for senior citizens over the age of 60 (proof of age is
required).
- Joint senior: 2 senior
citizens over the age of 60. This membership is only available to
people share the same postal address (proof of address is
required).
- Additional Family Members:
Children under age of 16 may be added to a joint membership (proof
of age is required). This cost is added to the standard cost of a
joint membership.
