Workington Leisure
Centre improvements
Allerdale Borough Council in partnership with Carlisle
Leisure Limited has carried out a number of
improvements at the Allerdale leisure facilities. These
improvements are funded by business rates relief which
Carlisle Leisure Limited is able to achieve due to having
charitable trust status.
The use of these funds are jointly agreed by the partners
and to date have enabled a number of improvements to be made which
improve the quality of the facilities and increase the range of
activities available to
users.
Swimming Pool
In 2005 the pool changing rooms and entrance foyer at Workington Leisure and Pools was refurbished
with new floors, toilets, showers, cubicles and lockers. The
foyer was opened out to create much more space with new
flooring, a larger reception area and a new entrance into the
changing rooms.
The colour schemes and fittings such as desks and seating will
be used in the three leisure facilities operated by Carlisle
Leisure on behalf of the Council to create a corporate image and
make the facilities more welcoming to users.
Fitness Suite
The fitness suite was also enlarged and improved with
new flooring, a new ceiling with lighting and air conditioning and
additional items of equipment. The area is now glazed to create a
comfortable and cool area in which to work out.
Air conditioning
In 2007 the practice hall at the Leisure Centre where most of
the exercise to music classes take place was fitted with air
conditioning to enable users to work out in comfort. Please contact
the Leisure Centre for details of the classes available.
