On the Move Passport
On the Move Passport, Year 4, 1st
March - 31st August 2008
Year four of the scheme
commenced on the 1st of March 2008 and enables young people
registered on all three levels to take part in free and discounted
sport & leisure activities at a range of facilities across the
county.
Allerdale Borough Council is again
supporting the scheme through the Allerdale Youth Reserve which
part funds the operational costs of the scheme and also sponsors
free and discounted activities at the leisure facilities operated
by partners of the Council.

What is 'On the Move'?
It's a Big Lottery Fund/Sport
England social inclusion youth project, led by Cumbria
Outdoors, involving a range of partners in the fields of sport,
health and education.
What are the aims of 'On the Move'?
The project aims to provide a
sustainable approach to raising levels of participation in sport
and physical activity by removing barriers and providing
access for young people of 12-16 years to allow
them to become more active.

What will a young person get from being 'On the Move'?
- Access to a range of FREE or subsidised sporting activities for
6 months of each year (March-August).
- FREE or subsidised Access to public transport (bus &
train), throughout Cumbria for 6 months (March-August).
- FREE or subsidised use of a Mobile Outdoor Activity Service
(minibus & equipped trailer).
- FREE personal reward of 5 or 3 day multi activity with Cumbria
Outdoors.
- ACCESS to a telephone helpline.
- FREE access to the On the Move website using PCs in school,
libraries & community centres.
- OPPORTUNITY to be involved for a second and third year in
return for more commitment.
On the Move - A sustainable approach
- Year 1. Each young person will have the opportunity to engage
in taster sessions & a 5 day multi activity residential.
- Year 2. Begin to consolidate, or broaden a range of
activities.
- Year 3. Personal Activity Action plan.
- Year 4. Although currently outside of the range of project, the
young people will be in a good position to look at how they can use
their new skills. options available to young people include working
towards coaching qualifications and peer mentoring. e.g.
buddying.

1st Aid, Caving, Orienteering, Archery, Angling, Problem Solving,
Canoeing, Kayaking, Sailing, Rock Climbing, Fell Walking, Cycling,
and many more!
Offered at free or subsidised
rates, through working in partnership with private and public
organisations.

Distington, Ellenborough,
Ewanrigg, Flimby, Frizington,
Hensingham, Holborn Hill, Howgate, Kells, Longtown, Millom,

Northside, Salterbeck, Sandwith,
Silloth, St Michaels, Upperby,
Westfield, Whitehaven Harbour
and Wigton. Highlighted are
Allerdale wards.
The scheme also targets young people
living in the most rural wards and includes areas such as
Borrowdale where access to facilities is poor.
