Community Activities

Sports Unlimited is here!

You must have heard about it, it's everywhere! Sports Unlimited is a national scheme to get more young people aged 5 - 19 years old participating in sport and physical activity all levels, whether recreationally or being involved in competition. The aim is to involve young people who are not participating in much activity outside of school curriculum up to at least 1 or 2 extra hours, or even 3 per week for those feeling energetic!
As part of the scheme we have two new activites taking place:

SportsHall Games
Where? Netherhall Sports Centre - Fridays 4pm - 5pm, starts 3rd October.
Based on Sportshall Athletics there will be 10 weeks of coaching, training and competition taking place covering all areas of running, jumping and throwing in a fun, non serious, environment.
It is open to anyone in School years 5, 7 and 8 who want to have a go, learn new skills and be a part of a team. The focus is not about the results, just enjoyment!
See poster at bottom of the page for more information.

Rollerblading
Where?
Workington Leisure Centre - Fridays 7pm - 8pm Family/beginners session, 8pm - 9pm for ages 14 - 104!! (no speed restrictions).
Roller discos are fantastic for the body and the soul, it can be as cathartic or exhilarating as you like. 10 weeks of roller blading will take place offering the opportunity to learn how to skate, improve on present skills, have a go at roller hockey (8pm session only), take part in games and relays, and also listen to some of our local DJ's. We also hope to get some demonstration groups involved for the more adventurous skaters to show them some extreme skating with the opportunity to have a go.
See poster at bottom of the page for more information.

Over the next three years we will be moving the activities around the Borough, so there should be something happening near you!
