People in the Park
The project operates as a drop-in-centre for physically
disabled adults, older people (55 or over), disabled due to age
related ailments, and their informal carers.
Users can have a cuppa and a chat, with volunteers and staff on
hand to make any introductions, encouraging the widening of social
circles. The members are able to play board games, bingo, sit and
read a book or listen to music in the comfy corner, or just talk to
each other. The project aims to provide a friendly and informal
environment where confidence and self-esteem can flourish.
There is also a monthly event, the subject of which is based on
the wishes of the users, this could be in the form of a guest
speaker or demonstration.
