Off-street car parks
Allerdale Policy

The Council provides and
maintains public off-street car parks in each of the towns of the
Borough to ensure a safe and sufficient parking amenity to meet the
needs of the local community, local economy, businesses and
visitors.
It is the policy of the Council to charge for
parking where it is economic to do so, and to apply different
levels of charges according to the needs and the economy of each
area. The council also holds responsibility for the enforcement of
On-Street regulations.
The purpose of charges is to enhance the
utility of each parking place, so as to provide the maximum number
of parking "opportunities" in each Town - commensurate with the
needs of the community, businesses and motorists, at no cost to the
council tax payer if possible.
All car parks are strictly but fairly
regulated. It is Council policy to penalise all improper use, or
abuse, of it's limited parking facilities to seek to ensure
compliance, and maximum availability of limited resources for other
users.
