On-street parking
Decriminalised Parking Enforcement
On-street parking enforcement, which was formerly a Police
responsibility, is now the responsibility or Allerdale Borough
Council, acting on behalf of Cumbria County Council (The Highway
Authority). The Council employs Parking Attendants to enforce all
yellow line and other parking restrictions throughout the
Borough covering Workington, Wigton, Aspatria, Maryport,
Cockermouth and Keswick amongst others. The
enforcement includes all off-street car parks managed by the
Borough Council.
Streets and car parks are patrolled by Parking Attendants,
employed by the Authority. When they find a car that is parked in
contravention of the regulations, they will issue a Penalty Charge
Notice from their hand-held computers
