How to use the site
Current path

Your
current position within the website is shown underneath the main
logo banner and above the page content. For example:
Your council - Council Tax - Council tax levels
2006-7
You can click on any of the links in the path
to return to pages you have previously visited. In the example
above you could click on 'Council Tax' to view this page.
Searching

If you are not sure how to find the information page
you require then type one or more search words into the search box,
then click the GO button. Choose your search words carefully, you
need only enter keywords, for example:
council tax
recycling
press release
elections
The results of your search will be displayed as
a list of pages with a short extract from the page to help you
identify which you need. Simply click the page title to view each
page.
Main categories

The main subject and service categories are displayed
on the left hand side of the screen at all times, the
main content sections will be in white. You can click these at any
time to view pages and links for each category.
Page Content Links
When on a content page the menu on the left of
the page will expand and all pages associated with that section
will turn a pale green. When a content page is selected it will
turn dark green as shown in the image below.
Related Links
If there are links
to other pages that contain information relevant to the
current page there will be a link at the top of the page which will
take you to the bottom of the page, directing
users to either pages on our site or external
websites.
Text only and printer versions

If you are using a slow Internet connection you may wish to
view the pages in text only format. The vast majority of our pages
are available in this form. No image files will be loaded or
displayed, text equivalents and descriptions will appear in their
place.
Click the text only version link and all
subsequent pages will be displayed in this format (you can click
the graphics version link to return to the full display at any
time).
If you wish to print a copy of a page simply
click the print button in your browser, and this will print a
printer friendly version of the page.
Update information

Many pages will display the date
the information was last updated.
