Records retention schedule

This schedule documents the retention periods for records at Allerdale Borough Council and the subsequent action that will be taken with the record once its respective retention period has been reached.

The schedule has been written in consultation with the heads of the relevant functional areas, in line with best practice guidance.

The records retention schedule is an important element of records management at Allerdale and forms part of our accountability as an organisation, enabling compliance with legislative obligations and business requirement.

The schedule is maintained by the Information Governance and Data Protection Officer.
