The tour is here for stage five and six. 

• Stage five is a Team Time Trial - the first in recent tour history - between Cockermouth and Whinlatter.
• Stage six sees the tour start in Barrow before arriving in Allerdale over the Dunmail Raise, snaking through the borough before finishing in Whinlatter again.

Bill Jefferson, portfolio holder with responsibility for tourism, said: “It is fantastic news that the Tour of Britain is coming back to Allerdale and I’m sure our residents will give it as warm a welcome as in previous years. With two stages we will also be the ideal place for visitors to be based to see the race and try out the rich and varied cycling routes in the area – whether that be one of our mountain passes, such as Whinlatter and Fangs Brow, or the rolling countryside of the Solway Coast and our Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.”
