Allerdale staff have raised £104.11 for Hospice at Home West Cumbria.

Like many organisations and businesses across the area, staff from Allerdale Borough Council took part in the Great Hospice Cake Off this week.

Taking place yesterday, the event sees would-be bakers put their skills on show as they create all kinds of tasty treats.

While the event is a good bit of fun it also has a very serious side - raising much-needed funds for Hospice at Home West Cumbria.

Council staff cooked up several treats and people made donations to buy one of the goodies. There were other activities also, including a guess-the-weight-of the-cake game (it was 5lb 1oz!)

All the funds raised from donning an apron and selling goods will make a huge difference to thi vital community asset. Every penny raised stays in West Cumbria and every cake sold will ensure the charity can continue helping people and their families. Each year, Hospice at Home West Cumbria needs to raise more than £1m each year and community support is vital.
