Residents are being encouraged to have their say on a community governance review being carried out by Allerdale Borough Council, ahead of the deadline for responses on 24 December 2022.

The review has been created as a response to a petition received by Allerdale Borough Council from the residents to Flimby to conduct a Community Governance Review proposing the creation of Flimby Parish Council.

Residents and stakeholders of Flimby and Maryport can contribute to this review by engaging with public consultations.

The first consultation will run from 7 November 2022 to 24 December 2022. Following this consultation draft recommendations are published for further consultation.

Allerdale Borough Council will then make final recommendations to the new Shadow Cumberland Council which will make the final decision, this is per the Structural Changes Order (Cumbria 2022).

If Cumberland Council make the decision to proceed with the creation of the Flimby Parish Council, elections to the Council will be held in May 2024.

The online consultation can be completed by clicking: https://www.allerdale.gov.uk/en/elections/community-governance-reviews/maryport-town-council-flimby-review/

Residents and stakeholders can also share their views via email. Emails should be sent to cgr@allerdale.gov.uk.

Paper copies of the survey are also available to collect from Flimby Sports and Social Club and Maryport Town Hall.
