Live music and entertainment will come to Workington on Saturday 17 November as a new ‘Tributes and Tunes’ event arrives in the town.

Tribute acts for some top artists including Neil Diamond, Abba, Meatloaf and Bryan Adams will hit the stages in a range of pubs across town, plus a number of local bands will perform live, all from 4pm onwards.

Acts will be performing in Henry’s, The Ship, The Well, Paduas, The Miners, Gaslight, The Bluebell, Soul Suite, Red House, Dukes, Chasers and the former Yankee’s building.

The event, which has been organised by Allerdale Borough Council in partnership with Maryport Blues Festival, aims to keep people in the town on the Saturday and bring people in from outside the area to help support the local night time economy.

Councillor Mark Fryer, Executive Member for economic growth, said: “Following the success of the recent Decades event and the Music and Laughter Festival, we really wanted to hold another event in the town that brings together the local community for an evening with a difference. I’m also delighted that we are once again working with the pubs in the town centre to deliver this event and I have no doubt it will bring another boost to the local night time economy. I encourage everyone to put it in their diaries and come along for some excellent entertainment.”

There is no need to book a place and entry to all venues and performances are free. Fancy dress is encouraged and Flavour in Workington will give away a voucher for a meal in the restaurant to the best fancy dress.
