The fantastic array of tourist attractions and visitor destinations Allerdale has to offer will be showcased at a major travel event.

Allerdale Borough Council’s Visit Allerdale brand will be exhibiting at the Group Leisure and Travel Show on Thursday (Oct 10).

Joe Broomfield, Allerdale’s Tourism Development Manager, will be flying the flag for the borough at the event held in the Stadium MK, Milton Keynes. Joe will be speaking to large and small group tour operators to highlight all the great things that Allerdale has to offer.

As well as speaking to key businesses and giving out promotional material, Allerdale’s virtual reality 360 degree video experience will be on show so exhibitors and guests can get a first-hand feel for some of the activities and locations within the district.

Guest speakers at the event include presenter and producer Julie Peasgood, travel expert Simon Calder and Springwatch’s Kate Humble.

Joe said:

“Allerdale has a lot to shout about when it comes to tourism and our visitor economy, from the Lake District and our stunning coastline to Hadrian’s Wall and the Solway Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

“Exhibiting at events such as the Group Travel Show enables us to showcase Allerdale’s great locations, attractions and businesses to an influential audience of domestic and international tour operators. This is an important aspect of our continuing work to develop and promote Allerdale as an attractive destination for group travel.

“And the offer in Allerale continues to get better and better. For example, this week we have gained a new Michelin Star chef in Ben Wilkinson from Cottage in the Wood at Whinlatter, we’re sure he will continue to be a great success and attract people from far and wide.”

The Council is working in partnership with Keswick Tourism Association who have provided information for groups looking to visit the town. Joe will also be promoting the offer of a local business called Solway Connections, which offers bespoke tours of the Solway Coast.
