Following its popularity last year, people are once again being given the chance to win their ‘perfect day’ in Allerdale, a beautiful part of Cumbria.

The district of Allerdale is home to a large part of the stunning Lake District, the scenic Solway Coast as well as the western end of Hadrian’s Wall. But it doesn’t end there – the area offers fantastic shopping trips in thriving market towns, cultural experiences in galleries and theatres and a host of taste-tingling eateries and drinking spots.

The team at Visit Allerdale - part of Allerdale Borough Council - has partnered up with competition sponsors The Lakes Distillery, Go Ape at Whinlatter Forest, the Lake District Aquarium in Maryport and the Embleton Spa Hotel to give one lucky person and a guest the chance to win their perfect day out in the area simply by telling them exactly what that day would consist of.

To enter go to https://visitallerdale.co.uk/my-perfect-day-in-allerdale-competition/ and tell the team about your perfect day in a maximum of 500 words via the online form. The closing date for entries is midnight on the 22 August 2021.

The main prize will see the winners get to experience their ideal day in Allerdale for free alongside a family member or friend. The day will be filmed by professionals from Fluid Productions and a short film posted on www.visitallerdale.co.uk to inspire others and showcase what the area has to offer visitors. As a perfect finish to their perfect day, the winner will spend the night at the fabulous Embleton Spa Hotel and wake up to a fantastic breakfast.

There are also 12 fantastic runners-up prizes on offer, which are:

· 4 x pairs of tickets for The Lakes Distillery tour and tasting

· 4 x pairs of tickets for Go Ape at Whinlatter Forest

· 4 x family day passes for the Lake District Coast Aquarium in Maryport

The competition entries that are judged to best showcase what Allerdale has to offer as a visitor destination will be added to the Visit Allerdale website to inspire others. The winning film from 2020 and some inspiring itineraries can be found at https://visitallerdale.co.uk/things-to-do/perfect-days-in-allerdale/.

Tony Markley, the council’s tourism portfolio holder, said: “We ran this competition for the first time last year and we were met by a great response, receiving entries from all over the country. It was clear that Allerdale is a special place to many people and it was brilliant to read the itineraries they submitted which really do showcase why the area is a superb place to visit.

“I look forward to judging this year’s competition and seeing the wonderful days out that people can have in Allerdale.”
