Statement of Community Involvement (SCI)

One of the key objectives of the new planning system is effective community involvement. Allerdale Borough Council considers it important that communities feel that they are part of the planning process and that their aspirations are considered and taken into account.

The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) document sets out the council’s policy for engaging the community and stakeholders in the development of planning policy through the replacement Local Plan.

The council's SCI sets out:

  • What the minimum requirements for public participation are
  • Who we will be trying to involve
  • How we will be involving them
  • How we will monitor the process.

The SCI was adopted on the 3 March 2010.
