Tour of Britain 2018

The OVO Tour of Britain 2018 returned to Allerdale in September 2018- for not one, but two days!

  • Stage five, on 6 September 2018, was a Team Time Trial which starts in Cockermouth and ended on the Whinlatter Pass.
  • Stage six, the following day, started in Barrow and after travelling through South Lakeland it arrived in Allerdale over the Dunmail Raise. The route then took it to Keswick, over Whinlatter from the east, through Lorton, Loweswater, up Fangs Brow, through Workington, out to Seaton, back to Cockermouth, out through Embleton and the Castle Inn, back towards Keswick on the A591 to finish with a climb back up Whinlatter.

Full details of the route can be found on the OVO Tour of Britain website.

Allez! Allez! Allerdale!

Allerdale Borough Council supported the tour this year alongside our partners which include Cumbria County Council and Active Cumbria. The tour was a wonderful spectacle and showcased our wonderful area to millions of people around the world, and helped local businesses.
