Universal Credit
Universal Credit is a new benefit that is replacing the six existing benefits with a single monthly payment if you are out of work or on a low income.
Universal Credit is replacing:
- Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
- Income Support
- Working Tax Credit
- Child Tax Credit
- Housing Benefit
If you are of working age and making a new claim you need apply for Universal Credit via the Department for Work and Pensions website.
You cannot apply for Universal Credit through Allerdale Borough Council, though we can help with making the most with your money and budgeting .
You may still be able to claim Housing Benefit if you live in supported accommodation or you have reached the qualifying age for state pension credit. Please contact us if you are not sure whether you can claim.
