Search for a planning application and make a comment

Ways to find details of a planning application

There are a number of ways to find a planning application. These are outlined below.

Remember we do not consider planning applications for developments within the Lake District National Park boundary. You will need to go to the Lake District National Park Authority for these.

Search our register of planning applications online.

The register includes all applications that have been decided as well as those currently being considered.

When searching you do not need to fill in all the search fields. It is best to use the application reference number if you have it.

Commenting on a planning application

Once you have found a planning application which is currently being considered, you can add a comment - either in support, against or with no opinion.

Allerdale Borough Council publish all comments. Avoid any details that could compromise your security such as dates or times when you will not be at home. Avoid any defamatory comments as these will not be included on our website or in any reports. Avoid making libellous remarks which could leave you at risk of legal action.

You can mark correspondence as “not for disclosure”. However these will not be made available to the public, nor available for consideration by the Council’s Development Panel.

Anonymous comments will not be considered.

Cumberland Council

On 1 April 2023 local government in Cumbria changed, with Cumberland Council providing all your council services.

Don't worry though, your bins will be emptied as normal, and you'll still be able to speak to the same team about any enquiries to do with things like council tax, benefits, planning or any other service.

Find out more about the changes.

Keep up to date by finding and following the new council on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
