Allerdale Borough Council has taken over the management of a car park in Workington town centre.

The council will now be operating the car park in Gray Street on behalf of its owner.

Although customers can use cash and card to pay for their parking, people are encouraged to use the Mi-Permit mobile app, which can be downloaded from the Google or Apple stores, where possible. Using it means there is no need to go to a pay and display machine and a ticket can be easily topped-up without having to return to a vehicle if a visitor decides to stay a bit longer.

The council will be managing the car park by collecting the pay and stay fees and carrying out the enforcement of parking regulations.

There are other car parks across Allerdale which are managed by the council on behalf of others, including Rawnsley Hall car park, Derwent Pencil Museum car park (both Keswick), Irish Street car park and South Quay car park (both Maryport).
