Eligible businesses in Allerdale that are affected by the government’s actions to stem the spread of coronavirus through the new national restrictions, can now apply for financial support through a cash grant scheme.

The Local Restrictions Support Grant scheme will be administered by Allerdale Borough Council with funding from the government.

Businesses required to close due to the restrictions will be eligible for the following:

  • For properties with a rateable value of £15k or under, grants to be £1,334 per four weeks;
  • For properties with a rateable value of between £15k-£51k grants to be £2,000 per four weeks;
  • For properties with a rateable value of £51k or over grants to be £3,000 per four weeks.

Businesses that have had to close but have adjusted their operation – such as through the introduction of a ‘click and collect’ service – may also be eligible for the grant, and these businesses are encouraged to apply.

Business owners need to apply for the grant via the council’s website at: https://www.allerdale.gov.uk/en/coronavirus/coronavirus-business-grants-claims/ and submit their details via the online form.

The form is built within the council’s myAllerdale online system which means that those already with a login do not need to register again. It also means that users get email updates on their application, as well as access to a suite of other online forms and information.

Once received, the council aims to process applications as soon as possible. Applicants are reminded to have all necessary documentation accessible before starting on their application. They will need to submit details such as their business rates account number as well as a copy of their bank statement as part of their application. More details are available on the website.

Anyone with any queries, should speak to a customer service advisor on 0303 123 1702.

The council is currently also working on the details of a discretionary grant scheme, the Additional Restrictions Grant and hopes to be able to launch this soon.
