The Communications and Marketing desk is also responsible for maintaining the website, our Twitter and Facebook pages, and other media. We are also responsible for any branding for the council.

Media and publicity protocols

We all must commuicate effectively and with clarity. Publicity describing the Council’s policies, aims and activities will be as objective as possible, concentrating on facts or explanation or both. Any comment will be objective, balanced, informative and accurate and in compliance with the Recommended code of practice for local authority publicity .

Publicity during the pre-election period - Purdah

During the six-week pre-election period, particular care will be taken to ensure that laws surrounding local government publicity are not breached. This is often known as purdah and Council complies with the Local Government Association's guidelines.
