Briefings for election candidates and agents

Posted on 17 February 2023Allerdale Borough Council will be holding a briefing session in February for prospective election candidates for the upcoming local elections on 4 May 2023.
The session will focus on the detailed processes and timetable for the elections. Information packs will be available for all candidates and agents, including nomination packs and Electoral Commission advice and guidance.
The session will be held at 6pm on Tuesday 28 February 2023 in the Allerdale Borough Council Chamber in Allerdale House in Workington.
The session will also cover the following themes:
- Key dates
- Qualifications/Disqualifications
- Nomination process
- Agents
- Postal Votes
- The Poll and Count
- Candidate Spending
- Cumberland Council and Local Government Re-organisation
In addition to this, the session will cover changes that will be implemented following the introduction of the Elections Act 2022, including Voter ID, which brings significant changes to voting in the polling station and the administration of the election.
