A sell-out foodie experience is making a comeback at the Taste Cumbria Christmas event in Cockermouth.

The Supper Club took place for the first time at the festival’s flagship event in Cockermouth in September and was a huge success. Hosted by Alec Anderson from Takeaway@Home, a new dining experience will take place on Friday 9 December 2022.

It’s part of the festive foodie experience at Taste Cumbria Christmas, which takes place in Cockermouth on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 December 2022.

After starting out at The Balmoral in Edinburgh, then one of the top Michelin-starred restaurants in Scotland, Alec spent the past two decades working in restaurants and cafes across the UK and Australia. In 2020, he worked as a volunteer with the Greysouthen Village Hall preparing pre-cooked meals for vulnerable residents shielding during the pandemic.

After this, Takeaway@Home was born, offering locals an alternative to a traditional takeaway providing creative menus in the comfort of their own homes. Alec now has a thriving business that uses local produce and suppliers.

The Supper Club will take place at Cockermouth Cricket Club and offer a five course meal for £35 per head. Tasty vegetarian options will be available with some of the best ingredients the local businesses can supply. Guests will also be treated to a welcome cocktail and receive a handmade festive gift from Keswick-based Cakes from the Lakes.

This is a very exclusive event with only 35 tickets available. They will go on sale at 9am on Friday 11 November 2022.

Those planning on visiting the festival are in for a fabulous treat too. From the Christmas market on Main Street, with a hot food court plus entertainment on the acoustic music stage, there will be plenty going on. Families are well catered for too, with children’s crafts, story telling and a visit from the big man himself – Father Christmas will be in town for the festival. More details will be released closer to the time.

Visitors will also have the chance to explore Cockermouth’s independent businesses and eat, drink and shop in the run up to Christmas.

This year’s Taste Cumbria Christmas is supported by Allerdale Borough Council, Cockermouth Chamber of Trade, Cockermouth Town Council and The Coffee Kitchen Bakery. For the full festival line-up, visit www.visitallerdale.co.uk/taste-cumbria-home
