Unfortunately, the snow and wintry weather continues to affect some of Allerdale Borough Council's services. We apologise to our customers for any inconvenience.
Customers can use our app and website to report issues to us, as well as pay a bill.

You can also ring the Council on 0303 123 1702 (including out of hours). For updates follow us on Twitter and Facebook as well as check the Council's website http://www.allerdale.gov.uk/ .

Bin collections

Our bin collections are continuing as normal, however our crews may not be able to collect rubbish and recycling from some areas today due to the snow and ice.

Customers are advised to leave their bins and recycling out for collection as our crews will try to revisit properties over the next few days, weather permitting.

A full list of areas and streets affected will be published on the Council's website: www.allerdale.gov.uk

Any excess material will be collected at the next usual collection day if necessary.

Customer service centres

Our customer service centre in Maryport has not been able to open today. It shall also remain closed tomorrow [Friday 2 March 2018]. All customers are advised to use the Council's website or app to report things to us or to pay a bill. They can also ring us on 0303 123 1702.

All our other offices in Workington, Cockermouth, Wigton, and Keswick are open as normal.

Leisure centres

The Wave Centre in Maryport has been unable to open today due to staff shortages. Keswick leisure pool is also closed. Cockermouth leisure centre is open from midday until 7pm.

All centres are updating their websites on a regular basis throughout the day and we would ask customers to check before they travel in case anything changes, at www.better.org.uk/leisure-centre/allerdale

Where we are open staff will do their best to deliver a service as normal but customers need to be aware that instructors may not be able to get into work so please be patient and check with the centre before travelling if in doubt – phones are busy as a consequence unfortunately.

Please also note that all centres and car parks have a good covering of snow and ice so care is advised to all those making their way in.

Vulnerable people and homelessness

If anyone is facing losing their home and being made homeless then they should contact the Council as soon as possible on 0303 123 1702. This number can also be used out of hours where customers can speak to a duty officer.

Please do check on any vulnerable friends or neighbours – such as the elderly or those with medical conditions – during this cold period to ensure they are safe and warm.

Other information

Information on the roads and schools is available from Cumbria County Council and Cumbria Police. You can keep up to date with the weather via the Met Office, and report any power cuts to Electricity Northwest on 150.

A list of other emergency numbers is available from Allerdale Borough Council's website and app.
