A Community Governance Review (CGR) was held by Allerdale Borough Council to rectify an anomaly identified in May last year whereby the Lido Village was effectively cut in half by the electoral boundary.

To carry out the CGR a working group, made up of borough councillors, looked at the potential options and put two out to public consultation, carried out by way of letters and an online survey. During this process a third option was presented by some residents in Lido Village and a further consultation held. Both Silloth Town Council and Holme Low Parish Council were consulted.

A total of 87 responses were received and of these, 66 indicated that they preferred option three which would see the boundary redrawn so that all Lido Village properties were within the Holme Low Parish Council area.

This recommendation was presented to Allerdale Borough Council’s Full Council on Wednesday and it was approved.

As a result there will be council tax changes for residents living in both parish council areas. While the electoral arrangements do not take effect until May 2023, any by-election for either Silloth Town Council or Holme Low Parish Council would be held on the revised boundary arrangements.
