Details of by-elections held on 17 February

Voters wishing to cast their vote in the upcoming by-elections to be held on 17 February 2022 are being reminded of some key dates ahead of the poll.

There will be two by-elections held: one for the Stainburn and Clifton seat on Allerdale Borough Council; and a seat on Broughton Parish Council.     

Applications to register to vote must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 12 midnight on 1 February 2022. It is easy to register to vote, just go to the government website.    

It is particularly important that people who have recently turned 18, or moved house, ensure they are registered at the correct address. Anyone who has already been registered and their details have not changed, does not need to re-register.     

Applications for new postal votes or amendments or cancellations of existing postal votes or proxy votes must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Allerdale House, New Bridge Road, Workington CA14 3YJ by 5 pm on 2 February 2022.     

Applications to vote by proxy at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Allerdale House, New Bridge Road, Workington CA14 3YJ by 5 pm on 9 February 2022.    

Applications to vote by emergency proxy at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Allerdale House, New Bridge Road, Workington CA14 3YJ by 5 pm on 17 February 2022.

Voters are encouraged to check the details on their polling cards when they arrive through the post, especially where their polling station will be located, particularly in Broughton where a different polling station is in use for this election.
