Local Development Scheme (LDS)

We have to publish a Local Development Scheme (LDS) and keep it up to date.

The Local Development Scheme states which documents, when prepared, will make up the Local Plan for the area. The main purpose of the LDS is to ensure that the local community and stakeholders have a clear idea regarding the content of the local plan and the timetable for its preparation.

Following the adoption of the Allerdale Local Plan (Part 1) in July 2014 which sets out the spatial strategy for the district, the latest Local Development Scheme is now focused on the Local Plan (Part 2) which is predominately concerned with allocating land for housing, employment, retail and open space.

Once adopted, the Local Plan (parts 1 and 2) will form the statutory Development Plan for Allerdale (outside the National Park) and will replace the saved policies in the Allerdale Local Plan (1999) and First Alteration of the Local Plan (2005).

You can read the Local Development Scheme below. Click on the circle to make the document 'full screen'. There are also links to download it if you would prefer.
