Local Plan Part 2 - Examination
The Allerdale Local Plan (part two) was submitted to the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government on 18 January 2018 for independent examination. Inspector David Troy MA BSc (Hons) MA MRTPI has been appointed by the Secretary of State to conduct the examination to determine whether the Allerdale Local Plan (part two) is sound.
As part of the independent Examination, a number of Public Hearing Sessions will be held as follows:
First week:
Tuesday 14th May – Thursday 16th May 2019
Washington Central Hotel, Workington, CA14 3AY
Second week:
Tuesday 21st May – Thursday 23rd May 2019
Council Chamber, Allerdale House, Workington, CA14 3YJ
All morning sessions will commence at 10am and all afternoon sessions will commence at 2pm.
The appointed Programme Officer is Kerry Trueman. The Programme Officer is the point of contact for both the Council's planning team and the Inspector.

At a virtual meeting of the full Council on 22 July 2020, Allerdale Borough Council formerly adopted the Allerdale Local Plan (Part 2). For adoption details click here.
10 January 2020
The Council has received the Inspector's report into the Allerdale Local Plan (Part 2). The Inspector has found the Local Plan (Part 2) to be legally compliant and sound subject to the Inspectors recommended modifications . The report marks the end of the independent examination of the Local Plan.
4 November 2019
The Local Plan Main Modifications consultation is now closed. The representations received have now been passed onto the Inspector for his consideration and are available to view in the Examination Library.
20 September 2019
The Council is currently consulting on the Schedule of Main Modifications . The council is seeking representations on the Main Modifications and changes to the Policies Map only. The associated updated Sustainability Appraisal and Habitats Regulations Assessment are also available as part of the consultation.

The Examination Library has been updated with document ABC.19 Addendum Site Allocations HRA 2018 - 23rd July track changes and ABC.20 Allerdale BC Site Allocations HRA - summary response to Inspector June 19th 2019. The Programme Officer has contacted Representors asking if they wish to respond to this document to do so no later than 5pm on 15th August 2019.

The Examination Library has been updated with documents ABC.16 Modifications for SA3 and SA5, ABC.17 Policy SA3-Affordable Housing and ABC.18 SA5-Housing Standards. The Programme Officer has contacted Representors on Policies SA3 and SA5 asking if they wish to respond to these documents to do so no later than 5pm on Monday 22nd July 2019.
