Cumberland Council
On 1 April 2023 local government in Cumbria changed.
The old six borough, city and district councils, along with Cumbria County Council, were replaced by two new ‘unitary’ councils.
In the area previously covered by Allerdale Borough Council, Carlisle City Council and Copeland Borough Council a new authority, Cumberland Council, was created.
From day one, most things won't change - your bins will be emptied as normal, and you'll still be able to speak to the same team about any enquiries to do with things like council tax, benefits, planning or any other service. Keep up to date by finding and following the new council on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. You can also sign-up to receive updates straight to your inbox.
